Nights originally made it's debut on the Sega Saturn in 1997, followed with a demo/extra disc called Christmas Nights. Though series creator Yuji Naka stated that he would not a pursue a sequel to the game, it did eventually happen - without his involvement.
NiGHTS: Journey Into Dreams was released on the Nintendo Wii in 2007. As tribute to the original, a re-make of the Saturn version was released in 2008 on the PS2 featuring updated graphics and portions of the Christmas Nights bonus disc.
