About
This site was created in late March, 1999, in anticipation of the upcoming Battlezone II: Combat Commander game.
While fans Activision's first Battlezone had high hopes and great expectations for the game's successor, the sequel didn't quite reach the greatness that many players had hoped. In the wake of this, I put BZII on the backburner, and here were are, ten over 20 years later, and I have yet to play anything other than the demo.
So, this site sits as it was so many years ago, in anticipation of Battlezone II.
In the late 90s, Activision winded down on game development to focus its efforts on exclusively publishing titles and many there saw the writing on the wall. A group of experienced, former-Activision, game devs went on to form Pandemic Studios. As an early outreach to the Battlezone community (and maybe a precursor to viral marketing campaigns), fan sites could become "Pandemic Watchtowers" to keep an eye out for the upcoming Pandemic. Sounds cool, yeah? Basically, you got a link from the official Pandemic site in exchange for linking them back. Still cool! That's why the badge stays on the front page.
If you're interested in playing games in the current era (2026) and you've somehow stumbled onto this page, the best bet is to get Battlezone: Combat Commander on Steam, GOG, or wherever you like to get PC games. It's got upgraded visuals and runs on modern systems without issue.
For the most part, this site is here as an archive, but on occasion, I do remove the broken links or do some touching up.
